We are thrilled at your interest in our venue and are excited at the prospect of both partnering with and serving you for your event. We see ourselves as more than ‘just a venue’ or a ‘room to rent’ but as a place of partnership with the wider community. Built in 2010 to replace the old building, The Well, Retford Baptist Church is a modern venue thriving at the heart of the local community.


Located in close proximity to the A1/M1 and in walking distance from Retford Train Station and Town Centre, The Well is ideally located to host your event. We have a variety of rooms available for hire with room capacity ranging from 3 to 320. Whether it's a long term weekly booking, a one off event or anything in between, we are able to provide a room with required set up and catering options suited to your needs.

    Our catering team are passionate about serving people, preparing delicious food and drink. Alternatively, we can provide hot water for you to make your own drinks. We can provide refreshments with biscuits and cake or full meals.

  • tech – to help it all go smoothly

    We've equipped each of our rooms with the tech regularly needed to run a high-level meeting/event. Most rooms have audio and visual equipment including projector, amps and speakers. Our Learning Centre has a smart board, and the Brownlow Hall has a full stage set up including: four HD projectors, side, central and rear screens, a high-performance sound system with surround sound, stage lighting and acoustic ceiling tiles.

    We are able to set the room up to meet your needs, assist with administration and event planning and provide administration support if required. We have our own car park, a coffee machine available if you don't need catering and free WiFi in every room.

40 - 320 Delegates

This room is ideal for exhibitions, conferences, road shows and concerts. It has a large stage, high spec audio visual equipment, including fully controllable stage and room lighting, three front screens and one to the rear. It is also equipped with stage and ambient lighting. The room has Dual front, a rear and a conference project that are ready for use to improve your presentations. Inputs for laptops are available at the front and back of the room. Technical and A/V support can be hired for an addition charge.

10 – 120 Delegates

Situated on the first floor, the Community Suite is dual purpose in that it can be divided into two small rooms or one large room. There is a serving hatch accessing our fully fitted commercial kitchen. The room is accessible by stairs or lift. divided in half with This room is popular for a variety of bookings. It is ideal for community groups, functions, parties and cinema showings. It has a widescreen projector and screen with speakers at both ends of the room.


15 – 50 Delegates

The Ridyard Suite is carpeted offering a triple aspect with full audio-visual capabilities. This includes use of a projector, screen and speakers. It is ideal for training courses, small functions and events. This table layout makes it perfect for presenting and teaching scenarios.


4 – 12 Delegates

The Learning Centre is set up for IT training with workspaces around the perimeter. It includes use of swivel chairs, an interactive white board, projector and speakers.

It is ideal for small interactive meetings or IT focused training courses. It also serves well as a work room, perfect for study groups where individuals work alone.


2 – 16 Delegates

The Gamston Suite is situated on the second floor of the building – away from other building users and is usually used 'board room style'. 

Its layout and furniture setting make it ideal for business meetings, focus groups, discussions, interviews and counselling sessions.


2 – 6 Delegates

Located on the ground floor, the Pilgrim Suite is the smallest room we offer for hire. It is ideal for one-to-one meetings, small consultations or private discussions. The room is simply furnished with bucket sofas and chairs.


10 – 40 Delegates

The Wellspring is a separate meeting hall with its own kitchenette, and toilet facilities. It has full audio and visual capabilities. This includes a projector, screen and speakers. Its placement and accessibility make it ideal for drop in cafes, training courses, small functions, children's parties and other small events.
